For as long as I can remember, I had a fascination with the news and loved telling and writing stories. As such, a career in PR seemed an obvious choice. At university, I studied for a degree in PR and have worked in the industry ever since.
I couldn't have asked for much more from my career to date. I've worked with some inspiring people and have had the opportunity to work in a wide range of sectors and brands - from financial services to FMCG. And I've loved it. Which is why making the decision to look for a new challenge wasn't an easy one to take.
In December 2018, I decided that the time was right to move on from my Head of Communications position at Swinton Group. I'd supported the business through a lot of change during my two years there, and felt like the next challenge had to be one that I was taking on for myself.
Helen McLeod and myself have talked about going into business together since we worked on the Co-op Pharmacy rebrand together in 2015. We shared a passion for communication, and our skillsets and working styles were very different but complementary.
We've started the year looking into what type of business we want to be, the type of activity we would like to deliver and how we can bring the best versions of ourselves to work every day. It's our ambition to help solve business problems using awesome communications.
Behind the scenes we've been defining our brand and identity, developing our website and content plans for social and thinking about what will help us to stand out in a very competitive industry.
We'll keep you up to date with our journey in this blog, and will bring you some hints and tips on how you and your organisations can be that little bit better at communicating.
Setting up on our own is a big step for both of us, but one that we're ready to take.
